Kenbridge, Virginia
James Stanley Pegram, affectionately known as “Stanley,” was born on December 20, 1958, in Brunswick County, Virginia. After a brief illness, Stanley peacefully departed this life on September 26, 2026, at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia.
Stanley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He was one of the most easygoing people you could ever encounter. He was always on the move, keeping busy and working on something—especially a car. He found joy in staying busy and working with his hands, but when it was time to relax, he enjoyed listening to the smooth sounds of Southern soul music and watching his favorite Westerns. His laid-back spirit, hardworking nature, and simple appreciation for the things he loved will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline “Mommie” Pegram; his father, James Henry Pegram; and his brother, George Pegram.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother, Lula Mae Pegram; his children, Diane Bell and Aretha Pegram, both of Kenbridge, Virginia; Doretha Pegram of Dinwiddie, Virginia; and Andre Bell of Danville, Virginia; and his brothers, John Pegram (Patricia) of Dundas, Virginia; William Pegram (Barbara) of Washington, D.C.; Daniel Pegram of Dundas, Virginia; and Frank Stigall of Stafford, Virginia. He also leaves behind a loving host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Though his earthly journey has come to an end, Stanley’s love, laughter, and memories will live on through the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A private family gathering will be held to honor and remember Stanley’s life. The family appreciates your love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
