Luther Mccoy Drummond, Sr. Obituary (1938

Luther McCoy Drummond, Sr. was born in Lunenburg County, Virginia on December 24, 1938. He was the son of the late Haywood & Margaret Jordan Drummond. He departed this life at home amongst his love ones on Saturday October 26, 2013 He was educated in Lunenburg County public Schools, and he loved to play the game of basketball. Luther was inducted into the United State Army on June 22, 1962, and was honorable discharged on June 21, 1968. He worked for Norfolk & Southern Railroad Company for 27 years and retired; he ran Downs and Drummond Funeral Home Victoria, Virginia and was an avid farmer for many years. He was a member of the Victoria-Kenbridge Masonic Lodge #187. He was also a member of First Baptist Church all his life where he was a Deacon and a member of the Senior Choir. He remained active until his health began to fail. He loved his family dearly but his love for people made him an adopted father for many in the community. He sincerely lived the true meaning of Brotherhood among men. Luther is preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Jones, Hazel Jones, Elgie Drummond, James Drummond and Gladys Carter. Mr. Drummond is survived by a faithful & loving wife, Kathleen Morgan Drummond, three sons-Luther M. Drummond, Jr. (Denise) of Kenbridge, VA, Carlton D. Drummond (Katrina) of Colonial Heights, Va. and Christopher D. Drummond of Victoria, VA., two daughters- Robin D. Brown and Kathleen Drummond of Victoria, Va., five grandchildren, Shannon, Stephanie, Shavonne, Ryan, Luther III and one great-grandchild, Ja'King; one foster son, Monroe White and god-daughter, Erielle Washington. Surviving siblings are Marie Parker, Arlington, VA., Alphonso Drummond, Houston, TX, Lillian Graves and Constance Drummond of Greensboro, NC., mother-in-law, Mamie Morgan, sister-in-law, Caroleen Horn (David), brother-in-law, Sam Morgan, Jr. (Yolanda) all of Blackstone, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday October 29, 2013 @ 11:00am in the First Baptist Church 821 Lunenburg Ave. Victoria, Virginia 23974
