It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Otha "Hogie Joe" Neblett, fondly known as Hogie Joe. Born on June 14, 1956, in Greensboro, NC, Hogie Joe was a beacon of hard work, dedication, and warmth. He touched countless lives throughout his years, ensuring his memory will live on in many hearts. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." No one embodied this sentiment more than our beloved Hogie Joe.
Hogie Joe made his home in Richmond, Virginia, where he was a respected and loved member of his community. He was a handyman by trade, but his skillset far exceeded the expectations of his occupation. Hogie Joe brought an unparalleled level of dedication to his work, always going above and beyond for his clients. His talent was extraordinary, but it was his warm personality, quick wit, and contagious laughter that truly set him apart. He was a craftsman of life, as much as he was of his trade. As an old English proverb says, "A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands, his brain, and his heart is an artist. Hogie Joe was undeniably an artist.
Hogie Joe is survived by his oldest son, Mario Jones Sr., his daughter Rasheedah Neblett, sons Basil Neblett and Ahkee Bailey and youngest daughter Shanora Willoughby… His grandchildren: Kareemah Neblett, Mario Jones Jr. Hadiyyah Neblett, Akiyah Bailey ,Tariah Bailey, Ahkee Bailey Jr., Javon Willoughby, and Mariah Jones.. Great grandchildren, Naimah Sandres and an expected who will carry on his legacy… His siblings Rosa Neblett, Gladys Neblett, Abdullah Jabbar (Valerie), Teressa Neblett-Burrell, Larry Neblett, Michael Neblett and Raymond Neblett… and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He now joins his beloved parents, Robert and Juanita Neblett, his siblings Rose Anderson and Bruce Neblett and his baby boy Otha Ali Jabbar Christian in eternal peace.
