Simon Lee Ragsdale, Jr. was born May 15, 1947 in Virginia to Simon Lee and Mattie L. Hite Ragsdale. He received his education in the public schools of Lunenburg County, Virginia. His employment was driving trucks for J. A. Barker for many years until his health began to fail. He departed this life on Sunday April 24, 2022 at VCU medical Center Richmond, Virginia. Preceded him in death is his parents Simon Lee Sr. and Mattie L. Ragsdale; four sisters; Mary E., Ella Christine, Margaret L., Ragsdale and Ann Shaw. He leaves to cherish his memories: five children Rose Snowten (Tim) Fayetteville, NC., Laurie Ragsdale (Daniel) Kenbridge, Virginia, Katrissa Baskerville and James Baskerville of the home, Kevin Ragsdale (Kapricia) of Baskerville, Virginia, step-son, Clarence Cook (Carlissa) of South Hill, Virginia, five grandchildren, Stantavis Lambert, Daniel Pegram, Tiquan Baskerville, Malaki Jiggetts, Daliyah Polite; two nephews, he raised as his own, George Ragsdale, Jr. and Brain Jones, a devoted life partner and care giver, Rosa Ann Baskerville, of the home, devoted and special friends, Florine Lambert of Kenbridge, Virginia, Vicki Fogg and Larry Boyd both of North Carolina, Mr. Thomas of South Hill, Virginia, four sisters, Elna Holmes Martha Wilson (Frank) of Victoria, Virginia, Nannie Brown (Willard) of South Hill, Virginia, Lillie Shaw (Freddie, Sr.) of Kenbridge, Virginia, one brother, Robert E. Ragsdale, Sr., (Kathy) of Broadnax, Virginia, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
